Social housing voltri street - milan

Urban development of new residential district. Four 8-storey tower buildings for residence; two buildings in line for social rent; one building for neighborhood services; new park, public spaces and services.

The project is on a unbuilt area of about 25,000 sqm located in the south-west of Milan.
The masterplan provides four towers of social housing, placed in pairs and two buildings
in line, who, with their sinuous shape dialogue with each other and with the road

development along the border area. The district services are designed in relation to new users: the multi-purpose center on the edge of the park will be dedicated to young people, while at the foot of the social housing buildings, are planned spaces for children and for the needs of new residents. Architecture, landscape design, social development, environmental sustainability, financial and administrative aspects: this multidisciplinary approach is both the method pursued, and the main characteristic that enhances the project. The plant morphology of the buildings follows the curve of the street via Voltri, while the two linear buildings are folded symmetrically. This creates a kind hybrid typology that combines residence in line with the tower. In the basement there is a parking area with a parking space for each housing unit. The buildings included in the new urban park and according to a  unitary design, help to complete the existing seattlement.
